DDB Visualisiert
The German Digital Library (Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek) provides access to a multitude of digitized artefacts of the cultural heritatage aggregated from many German cultural and scientific institutions.
To get a glimpse of what is hidden in this large cultural treasure I created the overview visualization along the time periods and cultural heritage sectors. Selecting a time span shows the most common keywords, places, persons and organizations for these periods.
In contrast to existing search interfaces, which display the few objects in ordinary result lists, the visualization represents the distribution of many objects along time, place, topic, people, and other dimensions.
